This dental branding photography session in Lehi, Utah for Dente Comprehensive Dentistry was all about the after.

Not just the after photos, though.

We wanted to show what can happen to someone’s confidence when they finally have a smile they love.

For this commercial shoot, I photographed seven real Dente patients who had received full veneers from Dr. Morgan Richards. We had five women and two men in front of the camera. Each person brought a completely different personality to the session.

The goal was to create polished, beautiful imagery for Dente’s branding while still making every photo feel approachable and real.

Real Patient Photography for a Lehi Dental Office

When someone considers veneers or cosmetic dental work, they want to see real results.

However, we wanted to go beyond traditional before-and-after dental photos.

Of course, the new smiles were the focus. But we also wanted potential patients to notice something else: confidence.

We wanted someone scrolling through Dente’s website or social media to look at these images and think, “I could see myself there.”

So, instead of photographing seven people with the exact same pose and expression, we let their personalities come through.

We incorporated movement. We laughed a lot. We used natural posing. Most importantly, we gave each person space to relax in front of the camera.

The final images feel polished and elevated, but they also feel fun and personable.

Planning a Polished Dental Branding Photoshoot

Holly Richards, Dr. Richards’ wife and business partner, did an incredible job organizing the session.

She scheduled professional hair and makeup for all seven patients. That extra planning helped the entire shoot run so smoothly.

Hair and makeup certainly aren’t required for every commercial branding session. However, when you’re photographing several people for a polished campaign, it can be a great addition.

Everyone arrived camera-ready. As a result, we could spend our time focusing on expressions, movement, posing, and personality instead of worrying about little details.

It also helped create consistency across the full gallery.

Why Real Patients Work So Well in Dental Branding Photography

Dente Comprehensive Dentistry opened its Lehi dental office just last year. Because the practice is still building its brand, custom photography gives them a powerful way to show potential patients who they are.

One of my favorite parts of this shoot was finding the balance between editorial and natural.

Dente needed professional images that could live comfortably on a beautifully designed website, social media, and other marketing materials. At the same time, we didn’t want the photos to feel overly posed or like traditional corporate headshots.

So, we created both.

We photographed clean, polished portraits that clearly showcased each patient’s smile. Then we added movement, genuine laughter, and natural posing to bring personality into the gallery.

The result is a collection of commercial images that feels professional without losing the human side of the brand.
