Cozy In-Home Newborn Session in Lehi, UT
When the beautiful McDermott family welcomed their second baby boy, Jett, we planned a relaxed in-home newborn session right in their cozy Lehi, Utah home. Mom didn’t want to worry about cleaning the entire house, and honestly – I love that. The nursery had such gorgeous natural light, so we stayed there for the whole session and it was perfect.
Why I Love In-Home Newborn Sessions
In-home sessions are my favorite for newborns because they capture life exactly as it is in those early weeks. This session felt especially sweet. Even though the nursery was a small space, we got so much variety and beautiful interaction. The cozy neutral vibes of their decor made everything feel soft, warm, and timeless.
Toddler-Led Posing for Real Connection
One of my favorite parts of this newborn session was how toddler-led it was. Big brother Vail was so playful, and we let him lead the way. There was a lot of playing and snuggling, and I loved seeing how mom and dad made sure to give him so much attention. I could already tell his transition to becoming a big brother was going to be so smooth because of the love and intentional connection they gave to both their boys.
A Special Story With This Family
Photographing this family has been such a gift. I first met them when they had just moved to Utah. They didn’t know anyone here yet, and I got to take their pregnancy announcement photos before they had any kids. Since then, I’ve photographed their first son’s newborn session, family photos as he grew, and now newborn photos for their second baby, Jett. Watching their family grow over the years has been so special.
